Welcome to MBSE4DELS

This website is dedicated to promoting and encouraging model-based systems engineering of discrete event logistics systems, or DELS. In a DELS, objects flow through a network of resources, which have capabilities to execute processes that transform the flowing objects to a higher value.  Goods in a warehouse flow through material handling resourcs that convert individual objects into orders for customers.  Parts and materials flow through workcenters in a factory, and are converted into products.  Products flow through a network of transportation and warehousing resources to satisfy demands.  Patients flow through a hospital to receive treatments.  These all are examples of DELS.

Here you will find case studies, technical papers, commentary and a home for discussion of the issues in applying MBSE concepts and tools to the design, planning, management and control of DELS.
